Senior Session Tips
Let's get Ready for your senior session
Are you feeling ready for your big day? I'm so excited to photograph this special time of your life. I wanted to check in and make sure you're feeling prepared so your session is as fun, relaxed, and stress-free as possible.
Have you picked out your outfits yet?
Your outfit choices make a huge difference in how your photos look, so now is a great time to start planning. I recommend bringing 2–3 outfits that show different sides of your personality. A great combination is: one casual, everyday outfit, one dressier outfit and one outfit that's uniquely you—whether that's jeans and boots, a favorite dress, your sports uniform, letter jacket, college sweatshirt, or something that reflects your hobbies.
Don't forget the little details—they complete your look! Jewelry, hats, belts, layers like a jacket, cardigan, flannel, or denim jacket, different shoes for different outfits, hair accessories if you wear them. The small touches often make the biggest difference and help create a variety of looks throughout your session.
Send me your inspiration!
If you've been saving ideas on Pinterest or Instagram, I'd absolutely love to see them! Send me a few of your favorite photos so I can get a feel for what you're drawn to. We won't copy someone else's images, but they'll help inspire us to create something that's uniquely yours.
If there are certain poses, expressions, or vibes you really love, it's also helpful to practice them a little in front of a mirror. Don't worry—you don't have to know how to pose! I'll guide you every step of the way. But becoming familiar with what feels natural to you can help you feel even more confident in front of the camera.
A few tips for looking and feeling your best
Hair
Wear your hair however makes you feel most confident. Bring a brush or comb, pack hairspray, anti-frizz products, or anything you normally use to tame flyaways, especially if we'll be shooting outdoors where it may be windy or humid.
Makeup
Whether you love wearing makeup or hardly wear any at all, be yourself! If glam makeup is your thing, go for it. If you prefer a natural look, that's beautiful too. Even a little mascara, lip gloss, or tinted lip balm can really help your features pop in photos. Bring your makeup along for quick touch-ups during the session.
Nails
Your hands will naturally appear in lots of photos: holding your hair, your face, your dress, flowers, or graduation cap. Whether your nails are professionally done or completely natural, just make sure they're clean and photo-ready.
Shoes
Bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes or sandals. We'll likely be exploring different spots between photos, and your feet will thank you! You can easily change back into your photo shoes once we reach each location.
